In the 1890s, Catherine Weldon, a portrait painter from Brooklyn, embarks on a journey to Dakota to paint a portrait of Sitting Bull, a renowned Lakota chief. Little does she know that this simple task will plunge her into the midst of a fierce struggle between the Lakota people and the US government over their land rights.
