In Wallander 19: Prästen, the story unfolds with the shocking murder of priest Henrik Nordstrom, who was shot outside a hostel. It is soon revealed that Henrik had been using the hostel as a place to have an affair with Lotta, the wife of Peter Unell. Peter, the managing director of Prominent Care, a firm that exports hospital apparatus to Africa, becomes the prime suspect in the case.
As the investigation progresses, more secrets come to light. Henrik's wife, Asa, had knowledge of her husband's affair with Lotta. Lotta confesses to Wallander that she was planning to leave her insensitive husband for the priest. Additionally, incriminating photos of Lotta and Henrik are discovered, along with the murder weapon, at Peter Unell's house.
However, Wallander is convinced that Peter has been framed. With this conviction, he sets out to prove Peter's innocence and find the true culprit behind the murder. As the trial proceeds, Wallander uncovers a web of deception and hidden motives, leading him closer to the truth.
