Details
Tin Cup is a 1996 comedy-drama film about Roy 'Tin cup' McAvoy, a former professional golfer living in a run-down driving range in the small town of Salome, Texas. McAvoy finds himself in debt and ends up signing over ownership of the driving range to a madam. Then he meets Dr. Molly Griswold, a psychiatrist who wants golf lessons. He soon learns that Molly is dating his old college golf partner, David Simms, a successful PGA superstar.
In an attempt to impress Molly, McAvoy decides to try and qualify for the US Open. Starting off as Simms' caddy, McAvoy soon discovers that his own talent is more than adequate. However, his lack of discipline and love for taking risks often costs him points. On the other hand, Simms shows disrespect towards fans but always excels in the game.
As McAvoy continues to pursue his dream, he must learn to balance his natural talent with strategy and discipline. With the support of his loyal caddy, Romeo, and the love of Molly, McAvoy faces various challenges and opportunities for personal growth.
