In the 1993 film Poetic Justice, young Justice's life takes a tragic turn after witnessing the murder of her boyfriend, causing her to give up on her dreams of college. Instead, she pursues a career as a hairdresser in South Central Los Angeles, isolating herself from friends and using poetry as an outlet for her depression.
