Igby Goes Down
Details
Igby's older brother, Ollie Slocumb, is studying economics at Columbia University and is fully immersed in their wealthy lifestyle, which Igby strongly rejects. He sees his brother as a fascist, though he might call him a Republican to be more diplomatic. Due to his father's situation, Mimi has largely neglected Igby and leaves him to navigate his own way.
Feeling trapped and suffocated by his family, Igby rebels against their expectations and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. He runs away from boarding school and embarks on various misadventures, encountering people from different walks of life who challenge his beliefs and expose him to alternative ways of living.
As Igby tries to escape his dysfunctional family and find his own identity, he is forced to confront painful truths about himself and the people around him. Through a series of hilarious and heart-wrenching events, Igby learns valuable lessons about family, love, and the complexities of adulthood.
Igby Goes Down (2002) is a coming-of-age dark comedy film that explores themes of rebellion, identity, and the search for meaning in a dysfunctional world.
