With prom just around the corner, high school senior Nicole Maris finds herself in a desperate situation. Her perfect date, Brad, has just started dating a cheerleader from another school, leaving Nicole humiliated and determined to save her reputation. In a bold move, she turns to her next-door neighbor, Chase Hammond, a notorious troublemaker and prankster.
Nicole proposes a plan to Chase: they pretend to be a couple and go to the prom together, hoping to make Brad jealous. Chase agrees, as he too is looking to make his long-term girlfriend, Dulcie, jealous.
As Nicole and Chase spend more time together, their fake relationship starts to blur the lines of reality.
