Before Night Falls (2000) is an episodic biographical drama that explores the life of renowned Cuban poet and novelist, Reinaldo Arenas. The film traces his journey from his humble beginnings in Oriente province to his ultimate demise in New York City.
Set against the backdrop of Castro's regime, Arenas becomes actively involved with the rebels. In Havana, he encounters Pepe, a wealthy individual who becomes his first love.
