The film follows the plant, animal and bird life in northernmost Sweden over the course of a year, with the vicissitudes of nature as the connecting links. The overarching motif is the struggle for existence under the harsh.

Dokumentärfilmaren Anders Wahlgren har besökt 14 städer från norr till söder och granskat en av de största stadsomvandlingar som skett i vårt land. På 1960- och 70-talen byggdes över 200 Domusvaruhus och lika många EPA- och Åhlénsvaruhus. Den gamla bebyggelsen offrades för de heliga varuhusen. Nu har de slagit igen och omvandlats till gallerior.

In From winter stay to summer mountains, Wesslén follows the nomadic life of the Jokkmokkaks. The film began in 1942 and took seven years to make. Wesslén wanted to document the Sami migrations as he thought it might soon be too late. He follows them and their reindeer through different seasons in the mountain fields.

One hundred years ago in 1923, Stockholm's city hall was inaugurated. A documentary about how the controversial architect Ragnar Östberg (1866-1945), through strikes, war and years of crisis, fights together with craftsmen and artists to create Sweden's last monumental building built entirely by hand - a house for the newly won democracy.

The Old Town of Stockholm has been threatened many times. The worst was when, in 1959, a large motorway was pulled through the heart of the city, a sword cut that split the Old Town in two.
