In Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore find themselves under the care of Dave's cousin Toby when their concert goes wrong and Dave ends up in the hospital. The Chipmunks reluctantly decide to focus on their education and enter a Battle of the Bands competition at school to save their music program. However, they soon discover that they have some formidable competition in the form of the Chipettes, Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor. To make matters worse, the Chipettes are working for their ex-manager, Ian Hawke.
As the rivalry heats up between the two groups, romantic sparks fly and crazy mishaps ensue.
