A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (2011) is a modern take on the classic fairy tale, Cinderella. The film follows the story of Katie, a 17-year-old girl who is constantly subjected to the demands of her stepmother and stepsisters. Devoted to her family and terrified of being sent back to foster care, Katie suppresses her dreams of becoming a singer.
Katie's life takes an unexpected turn when Guy Morgan, the president of Kensington Records, visits her school in search of new talent. Guy's attention is initially drawn to Bev Van Ravensway, Katie's untalented stepsister. Unwilling to let her dreams fade away, Katie agrees to lay down singing tracks for Bev in the hopes of securing her stepsister a recording contract.
