In the year 2009, America has been ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. A timid and inexperienced college student in Texas manages to survive by following a set of 30 rules, including tips like always check the back seat, shoot zombies twice, and avoid public restrooms. Longing to find his family, he embarks on a journey to Ohio to confirm if his parents are still alive.
During his journey, the young man meets a loud and Zombie-hating individual who is heading to Florida. They form an unlikely partnership, teaming up against the undead as they make their way towards their respective destinations. Along the way, they encounter a young woman who is desperately trying to euthanize her infected sister, showing the heart-wrenching desperation faced by survivors.
With rumors of a zombie-free amusement park in Los Angeles, the trio decides to continue their treacherous journey. As they face bloodthirsty hordes and unexpected obstacles, the college student wonders if he will ever reunite with his family. The movie keeps viewers on the edge of their seats as they eagerly wait to see if the Ohio native can survive the dangerous and unpredictable world of the undead.
